How Often Should You Post on Instagram and TikTok

There's no universal number that works for every brand, and anyone who gives you one without asking a single question about your business is guessing. What actually matters is finding a rhythm you can sustain with good quality, and that matches what your audience expects from you.

What actually determines the right frequency

  • Your capacity for quality, not just quantity. Three genuinely good posts a week will outperform seven rushed ones, almost every time. Consistency in quality matters more than a specific number.
  • The platform itself. TikTok's algorithm tends to reward frequent posting and experimentation; Instagram, especially feed posts, tends to reward a steadier, more curated pace. The two rarely need the same rhythm.
  • Where your brand is in its journey. A brand building initial awareness usually benefits from more frequent posting to learn what resonates. An established brand with a loyal audience can often post less often without losing momentum.
  • Your actual resources. A frequency you can't sustain past the first month isn't a strategy — it's a spike. It's better to commit to a pace that survives a busy quarter.

A reasonable starting point

If you're not sure where to start, a common and sustainable baseline is 3–5 times a week on TikTok and 3–4 times a week on Instagram (mixing feed posts, Reels and Stories), then adjusting based on what your own data tells you after a month or two. The goal isn't to hit an arbitrary number — it's to show up often enough to stay visible, without sacrificing the quality that makes people stop scrolling.

How to find your actual number

The most reliable way to land on the right frequency is to test a pace for a few weeks, look at what's actually happening with reach and engagement, and adjust from there — rather than copying whatever a competitor happens to be doing.
