Where AI Actually Helps in Content Production — and Where It Doesn't

There's a lot of noise around AI and content right now, split between two extremes — it'll replace everything, or it's not worth using at all. Neither is accurate. Used well, AI is a genuinely useful part of a production workflow. Used carelessly, it produces content that feels generic and forgettable. Here's where we actually see it help, and where we still rely entirely on human craft.

Where AI genuinely speeds things up

  • First-draft ideation. Generating a wide spread of angles, hooks or captions to react to and refine is faster with AI than starting from a blank page every time.
  • Editing and post-production shortcuts. Rough cuts, transcription for subtitles, background removal and similar repetitive technical tasks can be sped up significantly, freeing up time for the parts that need a human eye.
  • Resizing and adapting formats. Turning one piece of content into the right shapes and lengths for different platforms is a place where AI-assisted tools save real hours.
  • Research and structure. Pulling together the shape of a brief, a script outline or a competitive scan is a strong starting point that a human then sharpens.

Where it still falls short

  • Anything that needs a real point of view. AI can combine what already exists; it can't originate the specific insight, tension or story that makes a brand's content distinct.
  • Direction and performance. A real person on camera, directed well, still reads as more trustworthy and engaging than anything generated — and audiences increasingly notice the difference.
  • Brand judgment. Knowing what fits a brand's voice, what a specific audience will actually respond to, and when to break a rule on purpose is still a human skill, not a prompt.
  • Final quality control. AI-assisted output still needs a trained eye to catch what's off — an unnatural line, a visual artifact, a tone that doesn't quite land.

Our actual approach

We use AI-assisted tools where they genuinely remove friction from production — mainly in ideation, editing efficiency and format adaptation — while every deliverable is still directed, reviewed and finished by our team. The goal isn't to automate content; it's to spend more of our time on the parts that actually need a person, and less on the repetitive parts that don't.
